Lula Washington Dance Theatre is both an international touring dance company, and also a school of dance. At the school, we offer dance classes year round in a range of classes including ballet, modern dance, African dance, jazz dance, tap dance, Caribbean dance, tap dance, hip hop, Horton Technique, and other dance art forms. We produce annual concerts for our students. Our dance company performs modern dance in major theaters around the world. Students from our school are groomed to join the dance company if they so choose. We also maintain a Youth Dance Ensemble, which gives performance opportunities to young aspiring dancers. We are a non profit organization and we depend on contributions from our supporters to help keep our school affordable for people from low income homes.
