I first discovered yoga during college, in the midst of grieving the loss of a parent and struggling through debilitating depression. Yoga provided the opportunity to process my grief somatically, to heal myself holistically— through mind, body, and spirit. The yoga studio became my sanctuary of healing. Intrigued by the way our bodies hold trauma, I went on to study somatic psychotherapy. I obtained a master’s degree in dance/movement therapy and counseling in 2016. As a registered dance/movement therapist, I incorporate expressive movement into talk therapy sessions. I work with folks who have disconnected from their bodies in order to cope with stress, trauma, and societal expectations. In 2018 I received training in trauma-informed yoga from James Fox, the founder of Yoga Prison Project. In 2019 I received my 200-hour certification from Black Swan Yoga San Antonio (my hometown!). I teach a creative all levels vinyasa flow with elements of restorative yoga. My teaching style is trauma-informed, therapeutic, and lighthearted. I hold space from a grounded, genuine place. I am present with students, both in mindful movement and meditative stillness. I believe that the healing power of yoga should be accessible to everyone. All genders, bodies, and backgrounds are welcome in my class. I invite you to join me— come heal your mind, body, and spirit!
