Shawna is a satisfying mix of a Hot Power teacher and a former dancer. Her powerhouse sequences are challenging, deliberately designed to bring you to your edge so that you can examine what is hard. With brilliant creativity and a lighthearted spirit, Shawna delivers yoga that shifts your perspective. Shawna has expressed herself through movement for as long as she can remember, so it makes sense that she has degrees in ballet and modern dance. A professional dancer trained under Alvin Ailey, Philadance, and Roni Koresh, Shawna's dance career was cut short after a brutal injury on stage. Off-stage, yoga was waiting to write her next chapter. Dance had trained Shawna to understand her body intricately and command movement. Shawna reclaimed the expression of joy and intensity through Power Yoga, uniting both challenging and lyrical movement with the power of breath. For the next 20 years, Shawna would practice weekly, deepening her relationship with the style. Now, Shawna steps into shaping the Hot Power program at Down Under with her colleague and mentor Braxton Rose. Always a student, she continues to grow her repertoire, currently studying Yoga therapy as a tool to work through injuries, anxiety, and depression.
