I love love love all types of yoga, but I enjoy teaching more vigorous classes. Something that build strength, makes you sweat (just a little ), and gives a wonderful opportunity for a perfect savasana at the end. The more I teach, the more I learn. And the more I learn, the more inspired I've become and have been bringing more of the philosophy of yoga into our practice. Giving my students some backstory/ new things to learn and focus on during our practice. My intro to yoga was through my mom, she went through her yoga teacher training in Minnesota and she brought me along to some ashtanga yoga classes and I fell in love with how it made me feel physically and mentally. At age 15 || could see already how it made a difference in my life. I grew up in a small town and this yoga class was only accessible to me once a week and it was an hour drive and it was the highlight of my week. Fast forward to 2017 I started working in Albany and my coworker and I just casually started discussing how we wanted to take the training program at some point. Long story short once I started doing research on places to learn honestly all these signs just pointed to indigo. I felt led there and it was inspiring. I'm so grateful now a whole year later on having done that training. I always say, if I impact even one person a month through yoga, I feel as though I've succeeded. I honestly think coming to a yoga practice (especially on the days where you really don't want to) and working through physical and emotional challenges is the most rewarding feeling. I always try to offer modifications for everyone on any level because yoga isn't just for the most flexible or the most zen type of student. Yoga is a powerful tool that literally Anyone can access. As a yoga teacher, I know that my job is to create a safe space for all bodies to feel comfortable in and I honestly couldn't ask for a better job. A huge thank you to Zohra, the best yoga teacher I could've been trained by, for 2020.. the challenges it provided for us, as students to overcome, and to the students I teach now for trusting me and allowing me to watch you flourish.
