30-Day Trainer Content Calendar
A 30-day calendar of daily Instagram and TikTok prompts with caption templates and niche-specific hashtag banks for personal trainers.
Print the calendar, post one piece per day, and batch-film on Sunday for the week ahead. Do not skip the hashtag bank.
Why a 30-day calendar
Posting "when you feel inspired" is a recipe for posting 4 times in a week and then nothing for 6 weeks. A 30-day calendar removes the daily decision fatigue. You wake up, you look at the calendar, you post. The calendar here is opinionated: it rotates through 5 content types (educational, behind-the-scenes, transformation, opinion, and soft pitch) so your feed does not become a wall of exercise demos. Read our full personal trainer marketing playbook for the content strategy behind the rotation.
I have an opinion. The fitness content that performs in 2026 is not the polished demo with a logo overlay. It is the raw phone-shot clip with a specific claim in the first 3 seconds. "Three reasons your squat stalled at 225." "Why your client stopped losing weight in week 6." Specificity wins. Vague "fitness tips" lose. The calendar is built around specific claims, not generic inspiration.
Who should use it
Independent trainers growing an Instagram or TikTok presence. Online coaches building content authority in a niche. Trainers who have tried to post consistently and failed. Trainers in their first 18 months of business who need to build awareness before they need to optimize.
Do not use this if you are at capacity and turning clients away. Content production has a cost. If you cannot take new clients, spend the hour on retention instead. Do not use this if you have less than 5 clients. Build the client base first, then build the content engine.
How to use the calendar
- 1.Print the 30-day calendar. Tape it to your wall.
- 2.Pick a 60-minute filming block on Sunday. Film 7 short clips in that block. Your phone, a window for light, and a $20 lapel mic from Amazon are enough.
- 3.Write 7 captions on Sunday night in a notes app. Copy-paste the templates from the calendar.
- 4.Schedule posts in Meta Business Suite for Instagram and Facebook. TikTok has to be posted manually from the app.
- 5.Reply to every comment within 4 hours for the first 30 days. Engagement in the first hour boosts reach.
- 6.At day 30, count inquiries. If you got 5 or more inquiries from the 30 days, repeat. If you got 0, your niche or hooks are off, not the calendar.
Week 1 sample: 7 days of prompts
Case study. Aria is a yoga-trained strength coach in Portland, Oregon. She ran this exact week 1 sequence in May 2026. Day 1 (educational): "Why your glute bridge is not building your glutes." Day 2 (behind-the-scenes): 30 seconds of her own warmup. Day 3 (transformation): a client 8-week progress photo with permission. Day 4 (opinion): "I do not recommend yoga for back pain. Here is why." Day 5 (soft pitch): "I have 2 spots opening in June. Link in bio." Day 6 (educational): "Three cues for the deadlift that actually work." Day 7 (behind-the-scenes): her programming notes for a client. Result: 3 inquiries, 1 booked consultation, 14 new followers.
| Day | Type | Hook | Caption template |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Educational | Why your [exercise] is not [desired outcome] | Most people do [common mistake]. Here is the fix in 30 seconds. |
| 2 | Behind-the-scenes | 30 seconds of my warmup | This is what 10 minutes before a client looks like. |
| 3 | Transformation | 8 weeks, no magic, just consistency | Client [first name] came in with [goal]. 8 weeks later: [result]. |
| 4 | Opinion | I do not recommend [common advice] for [population] | Hot take: [controversial opinion]. Here is why. |
| 5 | Soft pitch | I have [N] spots opening in [month] | Booking June clients now. Link in bio if you want one. |
| 6 | Educational | Three cues for [exercise] that actually work | Stop cueing [common cue]. Try these three instead. |
| 7 | Behind-the-scenes | My programming notes for a client | This is what programming actually looks like. |
Hashtag banks by niche
Hashtags matter less than they did in 2020 but they still matter for discovery on Instagram. TikTok uses them less for discovery and more for context. The rules: use 5 to 10 hashtags per post, mix 1 broad (1M+ posts), 3 medium (50K to 500K posts), and 1 to 6 niche (under 50K posts). Do not use #Fitness (4.2 billion posts on Instagram). You will be buried in 9 seconds. Use the niche-specific banks below.
| Niche | Hashtag bank (5 to 10 per post) |
|---|---|
| Hypertrophy | #HypertrophyTraining #MuscleBuilding #PushPullLegs #BodybuildingProgram #BuildMuscleNotExcuses #HypertrophyCoach |
| Strength | #Powerbuilding #StrengthCoach #ConjugateMethod #531Program #BarbellTraining #GetStronger |
| Yoga | #YogaForMen #YogaStrength #FunctionalYoga #YogaForAthletes #MobilityTraining #YogaForBackPain |
| Online coaching | #OnlinePersonalTrainer #RemoteCoaching #HybridAthlete #OnlineStrengthCoach #TrainAnywhere #CoachInYourPocket |
| Fat loss | #SustainableFatLoss #StrengthForFatLoss #FatLossCoach #BodyRecomposition #NoCardioRequired #StrengthOverScale |
| Older adults (50+) | #StrengthAfter50 #FitnessOver50 #TrainForLife #LongevityTraining #AgingStrong #FunctionalFitness50 |
| Pre/postnatal | #PostnatalFitness #PrenatalStrength #DiastasisRectiRecovery #StrongMomTraining #FourthTrimesterFitness #MomStrong |

Common calendar mistakes
- Posting exercise demos every day. Educational content includes opinions, programming logic, and form breakdowns. Pure demos get scrolled past.
- Using broad hashtags. #Fitness has 4.2 billion posts. #HypertrophyCoach has 80,000. The niche tag wins every time.
- No call to action in the caption. Every caption should end with one line directing the viewer somewhere (link in bio, DM me, save this post).
- Batch-filming without scripting hooks first. The hook (first 3 seconds) is 80 percent of the post performance. Write hooks before you film.
- Quitting at day 14. The Instagram and TikTok algorithms reward 30+ days of consistency. Most trainers quit at day 12. Do not be most trainers.
How this fits your FITT Finder profile
Every soft-pitch post in the calendar should link to your FITT Finder profile, not to a DM. Sending seekers to DM creates a one-to-one conversation that does not scale. Sending them to your profile lets them self-qualify, see your pricing, and book without you responding to 14 messages. A profile link in the bio converts 4 to 7 times higher than a DM me call to action in our internal data.
Read our guide on how to get personal training clients for the full content-to-booking funnel. The calendar is the top of the funnel. Your FITT Finder profile is the middle. The signed agreement is the bottom. All three need to work or the funnel leaks.
Frequently asked questions
Should I post the same content on Instagram and TikTok?+
Yes, with one edit. Crop to 9:16 for TikTok. Use the same hook and caption. The audiences overlap less than you think and the marginal cost of cross-posting is 4 minutes per clip.
Do I need professional video equipment?+
No. Your phone, a window for light, and a $20 lapel mic from Amazon are enough. Polished production underperforms raw phone footage in 2026 fitness content.
How many inquiries should I expect from 30 days?+
A new account with under 1,000 followers should expect 3 to 8 inquiries from 30 days of consistent posting. An established account with 5,000+ followers should expect 15 to 30 inquiries.
What if I miss a day?+
Post the next day. Do not double post to catch up. One missed day is fine. Two missed days in a row breaks the algorithmic momentum and you should restart the 30 days.
Can I use this calendar for YouTube Shorts?+
Yes. Shorts and Reels and TikToks are the same format. Repurpose the same clip to all three with platform-native captions. YouTube Shorts has the lowest barrier to first-page discovery in 2026.
Do I need to show my face?+
Yes. Faceless fitness content underperforms face content by a factor of 3 to 5 in our data. People hire trainers, not exercise GIFs. Show your face in at least 3 of 7 posts per week.
